No Boredom 20 Minute Elliptical Challenge

I am becoming quite the gym-rat going anywhere from 4-6 times a week. I think this is fantastic considering one of my resolutions was to make it to the gym at least three times a week.

Lately, in order to keep from getting bored in the gym I have been working out on various machines and coming up with little routines for each. I am currently in LOVE with my “No Boredom 20 Minute Elliptical Challenge” workout – the constant changes in resistance / direction really helps the time pass quickly.

My favorite workout combo of late has been 10 minutes of my Stair Master Challenge (to tighten things up – bikini season is coming up soon) followed this “No Boredom 20 Minute Elliptical Challenge” between the two combined – my Polar Heart Rate Monitor often tracks around 400 calories burned – so I would say that these two workouts combined are perfect for me.

This reminds me – I owe you a resolutions progress update.

This workout works best using the ellipticals with the arms – you can really engage your arms in the push it (max resistance) segments. The great thing about this is that you can alter the resistance depending on your fitness level/ willpower.

Please note: Always consult your doctor before beginning any kind of exercise program.

Question: How do you combat boredom in the gym?

  1. Magazines! TV! Music! Not all at the same time, hehe.
I also like to switch up the machines constantly… so many 15 minutes on the stairmaster, and then right over to 15 on the treadmill, and if I have time, then 15 minutes on the bike. I’m also constantly changing up the resistance/speed/incline as I go.

  2. I don’t know why… but all I could think of while looking at the chart was the game Bop It. Push it, Pull it, Bop it… I need help. But I do also need to get my butt on an elliptical.
